The Tomboy's Guide to Heels

Hey Dolls,

Not every Doll is a high-heel warrior. Some of us are sneakerheads or slide super heroines. But on occasion, we have to toss our sneakers to the side for some stilettos. The first thought that comes to mind is grabbing a pair of kitten heels or some cute bedazzled flats. There's nothing wrong with either choice. But let's be honest, this doesn't fit the bill for every look. Additionally, this isn't the most comfortable option. For those occasions, you want to build the look starting with the shoe. When selecting a heel for a special occasion there are three things you want to consider comfortability, familiarity and style. Today I'll be your stiletto matchmaker.

Flip-Flop Fashionista

If you feel your best in flip flops, block heels are a comparable exchange. Block heels are super comfy, super supportive and can be as glam as a stiletto. The more straps, the more support!

Slide Sista

If you love slides, then you may want to try mules. These are very similar in design to slides. They'll give you similar support across your foot and the balance will be familiar. Mules come in all heel heights: from flat to over six inches. Next time you have to attend a wedding, try a pair of mules. This will open the door to many more wardrobe options.

High Top Sneaker Hotties

High top sneakers are always fun and provide an unmatched amount of support. If your go-to is high top sneakers, you'll love a bootie. They provide the same support as a high top sneaker and a peek-a-boo toe allows for breathability. These also come in heels as short as one inch.

Platform Princess

Platform tennis shoes pair really well with mini dresses but are sometimes too casual. If you need to dress it up a bit, go for a wedge. This is essential the same shoe, but on an angle. They will feel very similar due to the stacked sole. Wedges also come as a single layer platform. This is more formal than the platform tennis shoe, but not as glam as the wedge heel.

Rocking heels can be a lot of work, but it doesn't have to be hard or painful. We no longer need one-size-fits-all solutions. So, ditch the kitten heel and the bedazzled flats and go for the full glam look. The options are boundless, literally!
